Look at the boats!

Norwegian fact: It is part of the Norwegian culture to go on walks with the family on the weekend, especially if the weather is good. We saw so so so many families out walking this weekend and it was so fun. It remineded me of Spain.

 Our Weekly Overview:
Monday for FHE we had planned to go cross country skiing but it was all rainy. So rather we decided to go out and play in the snow. It was such good packing snow. So we built a snowman taller than Jake. It was super tall.
Tuesday we went on an adventure exploring more of Norway because we had clear skies.    Then Jake spent all night home teaching while I worked.
Wednesday Jake went to Hovden for some red cross training.  He was able to go cross country skiing and ice skating.  Rachel has a big project for work due monday so she stayed late working.

Speed bump sign - Jake thinks it is funny if you say it in English

Thursday we went to a baby shower for Emily in the ward.  It was fun to see how the Norwegians do an american tradition.  It was also fun because we got to meet some of Emily’s friends who came from Houston.
Friday Rachel had to work late and Jake dropped her off at institute and ran to a stake meeting.
Saturday morning we went for a boat ride to these little islands.  It was super cool and super cold.  The part I was most excited for was that the boat went crashing through ice.  We froze but it was such an adventure.  Cross country skiing was much better this time because it was colder and so we had the right kind of wax for the temperature.  I learned a lot about CC skiing.  First off people wax their skis before they go each time.  They have all sorts of waxes for the weather and snow conditions.  They are pretty hard core about it, even when they think they are not.
This was the ferry we took to see the islands
Sun:  It was a clear morning with beautiful weather.  I spent the morning helping emily, as she is super pregnant and needs a little help, while our husbands attended church meetings.    Katie, the other Next Gen, invited over to her place for dinner.  It was beautiful weather and so fun to walk down to the coast and take pictures.  We had a delicious meal and planned what we were going to do when our families were in town.  Oh and Jake and I went for a short walk in a Nature Reservation that they call a park.  It is on top of the tunnels we drive through in Kristiansand.  it was pretty cool.
